Dear Bill,
I would like to thank you for the support and guidance
through my job search experience. As you know I always thought of myself as a
“good interviewer.” With your help, I went after the job that I wanted that was
not advertised. And I got it! A main goal you stated was to have the company
feel like they had to have me as an employee. The interview rolled out as we
role-played in the office: from the 2 minute interview on my cold call to the
Vice President of the company, to documenting what they needed on one side of a
piece of paper and how I could fill those needs on the other side. After
following your steps, they had to have me for their new venture in this
area. I truly believe that I would not have gone after this job and been 100%
prepared for all interviews and negotiations if it had not been for you.
Thank you,
D.A., General Manager, a
Houston DC location for a national discount store company

Quotes From Career Decision Workshop
Attendees
“From my first session at St. Luke’s, I felt welcomed, cheered
up, hopeful about where my life was going. I’d been to a number of career help
programs but this was utterly unique. Everyone is made to feel capable, cared
for, valued. Thank you for your kindness, enthusiasm, and great sense of
humor. My job is great. I love it! It’s kind of strange but I miss the
sessions. I may just pop in and surprise you all some Thursday evening.”
M.B.
“There were several things that you taught me that were
instrumental in securing this job. In particular were the statistics on using
internet postings (less than 10%) vs. networking (86%) to find the job which helped me to
focus my efforts to where there was the most gain. Another was to spend 8-10
hours every day on "my current job", my job search. That which I learned in
your session on negotiating was especially useful when it came to helping the
company meet my price and to eliminate unwanted contract clauses.”
R.H.
“I am very happy to announce that I've accepted the position of
Controller. The company is phenomenal. I want to sincerely thank the whole
group and specifically those individuals who helped me directly. Networking
works. I appreciated most your spiritual thought at the end of each meeting.
If I can ever be of help to you or any of the group members in the future please
don't hesitate to ask.” S.S.
